Funding for new windows

Official name: Prepare Vienna window funding for your own home

The City of Vienna can support new windows in your home with money. This is called funding (Förderung). This plan helps you organise the quote, consent and proof for the application.

How it works

These are the key steps, in the right order. Answer the short questions; then you see exactly what applies to you and what is added.

  1. 1Check that it is only about windowsThis is only about funding for windows in your home. Other work, such as electrics or bathrooms, has its own programmes.Key step
    Why?
MA 50 is the city office for housing funding. It decides on the funding.
    What you do
You have no fixed right to money. The funding also depends on how much money the city has for it.
    Where?
MA 50 / MA 25Directly with the named service
    In detail

Identify actual window funding rather than general renovation

Only your professionally confirmed apartment route. Other electrical, sanitary, detached-home or building renovations are separate programmes. MA 50 determines recognised costs and funding, with no legal entitlement and budget limits.

  2. 2Check if your home and windows qualifyHere you find out if your home and your windows fit. Your main residence is where you mainly live.Key step
    Why?
The app cannot work out whether you will get the funding.
    What you do
Talk to the city's information point (Infopoint). Clarify your residence, home, building and the planned work.
    Where?
MA 50 / MA 25Directly with the named service
    In detail

Obtain qualified clarification of an unconfirmed apartment or window route

Agree main residence, actual apartment or building conditions, measures and tenure with the information point. Calculate no funding eligibility from apartment size, street or app selection.

  3. 3Check what the windows must doSound-protection windows keep noise out. Thermal-protection windows keep warmth in. MA 25 is the city's technical office.Key step
    Why?
The windows must meet certain technical rules. An authorised specialist company must install them. Doing it yourself does not count here.
    What you do
Clarify all windows of your home with the company or MA 25. On main roads there are special rules for noise protection. Have the current rules confirmed.
    Where?
MA 25 / befugte FachfirmaDirectly with the named service
    In detail

    Directly confirm technical window requirements

Clarify all apartment windows and an authorised contractor; self-performed work or material-only costs are not this funding route. Main roads A/B require an appropriate sound-protection route, with corner apartments reviewed individually. HTML and current regulation references differ on thermal requirements: directly confirm the current technical specification with contractor or MA 25, no app U-value test.

  4. 4Get the owner's consentConsent means the owner of the home agrees. If you rent, you ask your landlord. In a municipal flat (Gemeindewohnung) you ask Wiener Wohnen.Key step
    Why?
Without consent the application does not work. If you own the home, you show this with the land register (Grundbuch). That is an official list of owners.
    What you do
Get the consent or the proof. But the consent is not yet funding and not a building permit.

  5. 5Collect quote, invoices and certificateHere you gather proof. That is a detailed quote or invoices. You also need a certificate from the company.Key step
    Why?
The certificate shows that the windows meet the minimum rules.
    What you do
Are you still planning? Then the quote is enough. Ask the office in which form it wants the proof.

  7. 7Prepare the final statementThe final settlement comes after the work. Then the funding amount is worked out.Key step
    Why?
It is best to place orders only after the assurance. MA 25 checks the work. MA 50 does the settlement.
    What you do
Read the conditions of the assurance carefully. Check that the work fits. The app does not guarantee a payment.
    Where?

    In detail

Review actual assurance and final-settlement route

Directly review assurance conditions, actual professional execution and final settlement. General construction or settlement guidance recommends contracts only after assurance; MA 25 reviews execution and MA 50 settles. No payout guarantee or contract placed by the app.
