Do you care for someone and cannot do it for a while? Then another person or a care service takes over. That is called Ersatzpflege (replacement care). You can ask the Sozialministeriumservice for money toward the costs.

  2. 2Check if you meet the conditionsThis is about the conditions. You have been caring for at least one year. You cannot do the care, for example due to illness or holiday.Key step
    Why?
    Usually the person you care for needs Pflegegeld from level 3. For children or dementia, level 1 is often enough.
    What you do
    The regional Social Ministry Service office checks your case. It also looks at income and family.

    Confirm duration of care, inability and hardship

    Review at least one year of predominant care and inability due to illness, holiday or another important reason. Generally care allowance level 3, or level 1 for minors or dementia. The Social Ministry Service assesses relatives, income and dependants individually.

  3. 3Watch the twelve-month deadlineA deadline is the time within which you must send the request. The form names twelve months from the last day you could not give care.Key step
