  3. 3Check when your insurance startsThis is about when your insurance starts. Follow-on means: the new insurance starts right after the old one.Key step
    Why?
    This way you know if there is a gap. The insurance does not automatically go back in time.
    What you do
    The general rule: apply within six weeks after the old insurance ends. Then the new one follows straight on. Otherwise it starts the day after you apply. The ÖGK checks special cases.
