How it works

These are the key steps, in the right order. Answer the short questions; then you see exactly what applies to you and what is added.

  1. 1Learn what the AST helps withAnerkennung (recognition) means Austria confirms your qualification from abroad. The AST finds out with you whether you need it or whether it is possible.Key step
    Why?
The AST can also support you during the procedure. But the advice is not a Bescheid (official decision). It gives you no work permit and no residence permit.
    What you do
You contact the AST or the responsible office. The app does not recognise anything.

Free guidance is not recognition decision

AST clarifies whether formal recognition is necessary or possible and may support procedure. Guidance replaces neither official decision nor professional-practice authorisation, residence title or work permit. App recognises no qualification automatically.

  2. 2Check if the AST is right for youThe AST advises people who live in Austria. They must have a formal qualification from abroad. Formal means with an official certificate.Key step
    Why?
For the AST Wien you need a Hauptwohnsitz in Vienna. That is your main home, where you are registered.
