Parking permit for disabled people

Official name: Check disability parking permit

With a disability you may be able to get a Parkausweis (parking card). For this you first need a Behindertenpass with the right entry. Then you apply for the parking card separately.

How it works

These are the key steps, in the right order. Answer the short questions; then you see exactly what applies to you and what is added.

  1. 1Check the extra entry in your BehindertenpassThe Behindertenpass and the Parkausweis are two different papers. For the parking card you need an additional entry. That is an extra note in the pass.Key step
    Why?
Without the right entry you cannot go on. The Social Ministry Service names an entry about mobility or blindness. Mobility means how well you can move around.
    What you do
Have the Social Ministry Service confirm your entry directly. If the pass or entry is missing, clear that up there first.

Clarify pass and required additional entry

Disability pass and parking permit are separate documents. The Social Ministry Service lists appropriate mobility entry or blindness; federal overview lists mobility entry. Have the Social Ministry Service directly confirm your actual evidence, with no medical self-classification here. First clarify missing pass or entry there.

  2. 2Prepare the parking permit applicationNow you apply for the parking card. This is a separate application.Key step
    Why?
Without this application you do not get the card. The card itself has no fee.
    What you do
Use the way the Social Ministry Service has confirmed. The Social Ministry Service usually takes your photo from an official register. Do not buy a new photo unless the Social Ministry Service asks for it.

Prepare the separate parking permit application

Personally use actually confirmed current Social Ministry Service form or submission route. Permit issue is free; incidental costs not universally covered. The Social Ministry Service obtains photo from federal registers and requests one only when absent. Only buy a new photo if one is requested.

  3. 3Learn how to use the parking permitThis is about how you use the parking card.Key step
    Why?
The card makes parking easier. But it does not allow you to stop everywhere.
    What you do
Put the card clearly visible behind the windscreen. In a no-stopping zone, stop only to get in or out or to load aids. Check fees and private garages separately.

    Check usage after issue

When parking display actual valid permit clearly behind windscreen; when stopping show on request. Allowances also when actually transporting permit holder, no universal stopping-ban exemption: stopping there only for boarding/alighting or loading aids. Separately review municipal fee and private garage.

  5. 5Wait for your permitYou have already applied. Now you wait for the card.Key step
    Why?
Applied does not mean issued. Without the real card, the parking rules do not apply to you yet.
    What you do
Take your confirmation of receipt. Ask the Social Ministry Service office in charge. Do not apply again just because the answer takes time.

    Follow existing application

Use receipt and already responsible Social Ministry Service office. Applied does not mean issued; without actual permit derive no use from this checklist. No second application solely due to pending reply.
