Registration form (Meldezettel)
The Meldezettel is used to register, deregister or change a residence. Answer a few questions and we show only the fields that apply to you.

Good to know first
- Register at the latest 3 days after moving in; registering before moving in is not possible. Deregister within 3 days before or after moving out. Source
- Each person needs their own form, filled in completely and legibly. Source
- When registering, both you and the person providing the accommodation sign (owner, property management or main tenant). If you move in with a main tenant, that person signs. Source
- The host must not sign if you have not moved in or will not move in within a week. Source
- Bring documents showing your names, date and place of birth and citizenship, e.g. travel document and birth certificate, as originals or certified copies. Source
- In Vienna you can use any Meldeservice, including the district offices. Source
- You can also send someone without a power of attorney or post the form with the documents. Fax and email are not possible. Source
- Online registration works via the 'Meldewesen' service with ID Austria or EU Login. In Vienna only if it is not your first registration in Austria. Source
- Registration is free of charge. Source
- If the new address becomes your main residence, your previous main residence must be changed before or at the same time. Source

- Enter the surname you had before your first marriage or registered partnership.

Registering the accommodation

- New address: Enter the street or square; if there is no street name, just the place.

- New address: Enter the staircase number if the building has staircases.
